Fall Manure Sale
September 11th, 2011 by Kat 2 comments »When: Saturday, October 1, 2011 – 10am-noon (unless sold out earlier)
Where: Bowen Island Community School (BICS) parking lot
Cost: $5/bag or 5 bags for $20, inquire about truckloads
- Nourish your garden with composted manure from Bowen Island horses.
- Return your empty manure bags to us – we’ll reuse them.
Why not buy local manure as a green alternative to driving to town to buy it at a big box store? At the same time you can make Bowen Island more sustainable. Horse manure is high in Nitrogen, moderate in Phosphorus and high in potash and you can get it from the horses you see and enjoy.
BIHORA sells composted manure which is ready to apply directly to your garden. Some uses of horse manure compost are: as mulch around your landscaping and garden plants; as a soil amendment for sandy or clay soil and as great food for your plants. Come early so you don’t miss out.
Bombproofing Practice Day
July 12th, 2011 by Pony Express 1 comment »Thank you everyone, for a wonderful practice day today! It was incredible to see the diffference that an hour and half of practicing made – by the end of the afternoon we couldn’t get the horses to react ton anything! Remember the test day is on Thursday from 1-4 Evergreen Acres (1355 Westside Rd.) in the top ring. If you’re not able to come and ride, stop by to watch it’ll be a great time!
